Local
If the profile is half-empty, Google has less to match to a local search and a customer sees less to trust. Fill in the services, hours, phone, photos, and description you can stand behind.
If your business details change between the website and listings, Google and customers can lose confidence. Use one exact name, address, and phone number everywhere.
Old or missing directory listings make your business look harder to verify. Correct the useful local directories and remove duplicates where you can.
On-page
A vague browser title gives Google and searchers no clear job, service, or place to match. Say exactly what the page does and where you work.
If the search preview is blank or generic, a good page can be skipped. Give the right customer a plain reason to click and call.
A page without a clear main heading makes the service harder to understand at a glance. Put the job and location in the main heading, then use subheadings to guide the detail.
Thin service copy leaves customers guessing about the work, area, and next step. Answer the practical questions a ready-to-buy visitor would ask before making contact.
A page that goes nowhere makes it harder for a customer and Google to find the next useful detail. Link service pages to related work, areas, and your contact route.
Unlabelled images hide useful context from people using a screen reader and from search engines. Add short, accurate descriptions where an image helps explain the work.
Technical
A slow page gives a potential customer time to give up and call somebody else. Compress heavy images, remove bloat, and make the first useful content load quickly.
Most local searches happen on a phone, often between jobs. Make the text readable, the buttons easy to tap, and the call or enquiry route obvious without pinching and zooming.
If search engines cannot reach an important page, they cannot show it for the work you want. Check links, blocked pages, and simple technical errors that keep your service hidden.
A missing or stale sitemap leaves Google with less help finding the pages you want indexed. Keep a clean list of live, useful pages and submit it in Search Console.
A browser warning makes a customer hesitate before they send details or call. Keep the site on HTTPS and renew the certificate before it expires.
Without structured data, search engines have to work harder to identify your business, services, and contact details. Add accurate schema that matches what customers can see on the page.
01
Why a few missing details can cost a real job.
People looking for a local trade are usually deciding quickly. If your service, area, proof, or contact route is unclear, they can move on before you ever get the chance to quote.
The audit helps separate the important work from the noise: the local details that build confidence, the pages that need to explain the job better, and the technical snags that make the site harder to use or find.

02
Questions before you start.
Is the audit really free?
Yes. The VU1 audit is free and there is no payment or card detail needed. We check 15 local, on-page, and technical signals and explain the useful fixes in plain English.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Send your website URL and town or service area — no signup wall, no card details. We'll prepare your report from there.
What happens after I submit?
We review the website you send and prepare a practical report — usually within a few minutes. It explains what each finding means, why it matters for local customers, and what to fix next, and we'll email it straight to you.
How is this different from a generic SEO report?
It is built around a local service business and the town it wants to be found in. The findings cover local details, useful page content, and technical basics without hiding the action behind jargon.
